Greetings friends!
We snuck away this week and have been enjoying a very merry Christmas in Tokyo. We are missing our families and decided that the best we could do (and the best way to fulfill Frank’s Christmas wish for cold weather) was to jet off to Tokyo for Christmas week. It is beautiful here, and we explored the city until our hands were frozen and our feet (mine in warm new boots for the occasion) were sore. Then we tucked ourselves into cozy cafes for steaming bowls of udon and hit the streets again. There is far more here than we could ever dream of seeing in five days, but we are feeling festive and happy. We even found a tiny tree for 600 yen and decorated it with a glass of champagne high over the city.
We’re off for Christmas dinner and returning to Bangkok first thing tomorrow morning. Since it will take me a few days to sort through all that we have seen and done, I wanted to wish you a quick Merry Christmas and share a few pictures.

I like how you’ve collected those photos together. Tokyo is really beautiful with its rich culture. Have you heard of share houses here? It’s also a unique part of their culture. Wrote about it here Come on UP House
Ive always wanted to go to Japan! I even took Japanese for awhile in High School (I remember nothing but how to say I am warm and comfortable, Thank you, and OhMy!)

The egg shaped things are mochi sweets – gummy on the outside but with all sorts of fillings (cake, chocolate, fruit). They are strange, but delicious!
You’re so lucky with your quick little trips around Asia. What a wonderful way to spend Christmas!
